Dana's middle name is Joy. And she defines that word. Every time we see Dana, she is filled with joy and tells stories of how her boys are doing and her next adventure in life. Dana has always been joyful, but there was a time when she had a hard time showing it.
Dana was a resident in 2018. When she came to us, she was in a toxic relationship that had taken a turn for the worse. She was seeking help in leaving but had nowhere to stay until she could get on her feet. Dana had made efforts to improve her situation. She was taking care of her two sons and one of them was battling cancer. She had to make frequent trips to Memphis to go to the doctor with her son. She was holding down a job but needed more income. She was trying to make it all work as a single mom, but just needed a little encouragement.
After a few months, Dana was able to get a higher paying job and save enough money to make it in her own housing. Dana had participated in Celebrate Recovery to overcome low self-esteem and toxic relationships. She gained tools that she needed to continue down a good road.
Dana's sons are now much older and her youngest is in remission! She is engaged to be married and is helping take care of an elderly family member. Every time we see her she has a big smile on her face! Those months in the Bridge house were exactly what she needed to know that she can be successful in life. In his 8th grade year, her oldest son was the president of his class. Her now first grader is making all "A's" in school. The whole family is flourishing and we couldn't be more proud of all of them!
